UMMC-Simulation Program
The Simulation Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center has been housed in the Training Division of the Department of Advanced Biomedical Education since July 2022. This program includes three cores, where learners receive instruction and hands-on experience on medical procedures, resuscitation techniques, and clinical skills assessment. The Basic and Advanced Resuscitation Training Core provides hands-on training on various resuscitation techniques, The "Judith Gore Gearhart" Clinical Skills Assessment Core exposes learners to the Clinical Encounter experience with Standardized Participants, and the Simulation and Interprofessional Education Core provides opportunities for learners to practice medical procedures utilizing task trainers, and low and high-fidelity manikins in a safe, and controlled environment.
Simulation Program Mission: To improve patient safety and healthcare outcomes by providing realistic simulated clinical experiences in a supportive environment while advancing the field of simulation education through research and best practices.
Simulation Program Vision: UMMC's Simulation Program will serve as the leading hub for simulation-based education, shaping the future of healthcare professionals and scientists in Mississippi for generations to come. By fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence in training, we aim to be the cornerstone of healthcare education in the state.
